Domain Monitor Help guide

Keep alive monitors

Recently, we've been seeing a number of "Keep-alive" monitors being added to our platform. Because of this, we're imposing certain restrictions on these monitors.

These monitors are typically created to simply keep an external application running which would otherwise normally stop running after a period of time.

These monitors aren't typically your own website and as such have reduced functionality within our platform.

From today, we're reducing the functionality of these monitors, this means:

  • Notifications are automatically disabled
  • Monitor check frequency is restricted to 1 check per hour
  • Subsequent downtime verifications are disabled
  • Reduced faster uptime detection

Automatic detection

We've implemented automatic detection to try and identify monitors that may be used for "Keep-alive" purposes.

When a monitor is identified as this, you'll see a message next to your monitor's URL when creating or editing a URL.

List of known services

Some services have been added to the list of known "Keep-alive" services, these include:

  • Repl.co
