Defining Maintenance Windows

Want to get started with our Maintenance windows feature?

Let's look at the steps involved to set one up:

Just temporarily pausing a monitor? You can pause monitors individually.

  1. Log in to your account
  2. Tap Maintenance windows (you might need to open the menu first if on a mobile) in the menu
  3. Tap on Add maintenance window to open up the creation page
  4. Give it a name, and optionally a description
  5. Choose your frequency, you'll be able to select the days of week or days of month based on the frequency
  6. Choose when you'd like your maintenance window to start on the defined days
  7. Finally, enter a value up to 1140 in minutes for how long the maintenance window should run for

When does the maintenance window activate?

Activation will begin based on your monitor's check frequency, meaning, if you've got a monitor set to check once an hour, say the last check was at 13:00 and your maintenance window is defined to start at 13:30 and run for 60 minutes then the maintenance window will activate at 14:00 since no monitoring checks were performed before this time.

Once you've defined your maintenance window, you'll be able to see it's status when viewing all of your maintenance windows.

The current statuses are:

  • Enabled
  • Disabled

Once one or more windows activates (this is an automatic process) the status will change so that you can identify which ones are active, in addition, an active maintenance window will automatically be positioned higher in the list so that you can identify it quicker.

Troubleshooting

My maintenance window hasn't activated?

Possible causes are:

  1. Incorrect timezone configuration, you must update your account's timezone in your profile to ensure the accuracy of the maintenance window
  2. Your check frequency on one or more of your monitors is set too high
